The First Steps to Getting Your Pet Abroad

Airline Pet Policy

  • La Compagnie

La Compagnie is an all-Business-Class airline, consisting of 76 seats that convert to flat beds. It primarily flies between Newark (EWR), Paris (ORY), Milan (MXP), and Nice (NCE).

  • Air France

Air France is the national airline of France and one of the largest in Europe. They’re generally considered very pet-friendly compared to other international carriers.

  • Delta

Delta is known for its extensive domestic and international route network, solid customer service, and a range of travel classes. It is also pet-friendly, though with a few more restrictions.

Pet Carriers

Largest In-Cabin Approved:

Because we went with La Compagnie, we were able to bring a larger carrier in cabin. This Mr. Peanut’s carrier was the largest that fit within their specs that had great reviews and multiple size and color options.

We also loved that it can be carried, attached to your luggage or worn as a backpack, making it super versatile.

The Bougie Choice:

While I really loved the look of Arlo Skye’s dog carrier, the price point was just a little too high compared to the other carriers that I found when researching.

It does have fantastic reviews and features, like a washable memory foam mattress if you don’t mind spending more than the average carrier!

The Backup Choice:

The reviews are great for this Mr. Peanut’s carrier and, as for most of the brand’s products, customers liked how sturdy it is.

Since your pet’s weight is combined with the carrier’s, we were especially interested because it’s super lightweight—just 3.7 pounds! In the end, we went with the slightly larger backpack version for a bit of extra space.

The Instagram Favorite:

We saw this one all over Instagram with users expressing how much they loved the Wild One Travel Carrier. The carrier doubles as a canopy bed, allowing pets to relax in comfort when not stowed away for flying.

We personally wanted a carrier that had more mesh, allowing Milou to not feel so boxed.

 Travel  Documentation

Traveling to the E.U. with your pet can be stressful. Thankfully, we have already done it and documented each step. Please note that each country in the E.U. has their own requirements that differ between country. As we were only traveling to France, these are the basic requirements for the E.U. and France.
